This workshop will be aimed at educating citizens about Lyons’ economy, transportation and land use options. For example, we can discuss how to mange traffic to promote economic development by examining how other Colorado communities manage their “Main Streets.” We will also consider national examples of communities who used roadway conversions as a tool for economic development and issues related to CDOT requirements.

We will also introduce a series of benchmarks and indicators to evaluate the land use scenarios that will be presented in the third workshop. The benchmarks will be based on the input we receive from Town Staff, citizen interviews, surveys, our researchand Workshop One. The indicators may include annual permits, land use data, household figures and auto usage for example. Once we have revised the benchmarks and indicators per the community’s comments, we will issue a draft report for review online that lists the benchmarks and indicators for each major planning goal. The results will form the baseline for analyzing the scenarios and help measure the community’s progress implementing the plan.
