I am a Lyons resident. Thanks for your work on the comprehensive plan. I want to briefly comment on the guiding principles.

  1. Please don't forget the town's sustainable commitment as a transition town. I see that this principle deals with environmental sustainability. Focus on protecting air, water and environmental quality and on reducing consumption of resources and waste. Let's be a leader and a comapssionate community when it comes to protecting the earth for all peoples and species. I also hope we can make some easy, but valuable changes such as:
    a.  providing recycling in the town parks
    b.  switching out stardard holiday lights for LED lights
    c.  retrofitting lighting in town buildings to more efficient lighting.

Let me know if I can help in our sustainability efforts. I am willing to volunteer. Also, while the Planet Blue Grass events are an asset to the town, parking arrangements are tough on our open space and environment. Each year, excessive traffic in the Bohn park area leads to disruption of natural vegetation and creates ideal conditions for weeds to take hold and spread throughout the community. Construction projects have the same negative effect. I ask that we hold the developers and event folks respeonsible for weed mitigation.

I feel that in general, the guiding principles match my values. Thanks for developing a thoughtful plan for our community
